Mass Effect similar to fall out 3?

I recently played Mass Effect and just loved the gameplay/story truly an amazing game. I was wondering if Fall out 3 is similar to this game or not?Mass Effect similar to fall out 3?
Similar... but different. While both games offer the ability to explore Fallout 3's world is more open than ME givning more to do in the areas that you can travel to. Both game's combat is somewhat similar with first person combat, but F3 offers V.A.T.S. which is pretty cool because it allows you to target individual body parts. Both have RPG type leveling up, I enjoyed F3's more since there were so many attirbutes you can mix and match.I enjoyed ME but loved to death Fallout 3; I'd suggest checking it out I'm sure you'd enjoy it.Mass Effect similar to fall out 3?

Id have to say these games are actually very different. Not really going to go into the details, but just watch some youtube videos of Fallout 3 if you're unsure.

Never said the game was FPS... the combat 'is somewhat similar'... FPS, third person... however you care to describe it
I'd say they are not a million miles apart. They have shooting bits, talking bits and rpg elements with aromour stats etcI enjoyed both, but I felt that fallout encourage you to explore more. I felt ME was driven down a very linear path with little in the way of side quests.
They are broadly similar. Both are RPGs with plenty of action, the ability to explore a lot of different places, upgrade your character, loot and trade equipment. If you've played Oblivion then try to imagine that with guns, set in a post apocalyptic wasteland and you've pretty much got Fallout 3.[QUOTE=''angryfodder''] I'd say they are not a million miles apart. You can play the game and only do the main plot missions, but you miss more than half the game.
Well, I have both of them, and I kinda disagree when one says they are most likely the same but are different... They're totally diferent! The system mecanics, the way you play, the way the story develops, the liberty you got in each one of them, they have no inspirations one in the other, I'm pretty sure 'bout that.
they aren't similar, other than both being RPG's...combat, story, levelling...all different
Both are similar since they are Shooters/RPG

I think ME works alot better in things that I look for in a RPG: story that i'm interested in and characters that I get attached to.

The voice acting is light years better in ME. I like the dialog system in ME alot also. Not just that, but the dialog options. In Fallout 3 you're either a goody two shoes or a homicidal jerk. There is no middle ground at all and its rare for me to ever see an option that i'd actually pick if I was really in that role.

Fallout 3 does a much better job of side quests though. The story of them in ME is more interesting, but they always boil down to, ''goto this building that looks 100% identical to every other building in every other sidequest, kill all the henchmen who will be positioned in the exact same place as every other sidequest, and either kill the main boss or talk him out of it.''. Fallout 3 is usually, ''go to place x, kill everyone and retrieve something'' but you have so much variety in environment that it doesn't feel as cookie cutter as ME.

However, I think the open nature of Fallout 3 hurts the main storyline. I'm 50 hours into Fallout 3 and I really don't care about the main story at all. I'm almost burned out on the game and I think i'm just gonna fast track to see the conclusion... not because I want to see how it plays out but because I don't like playing games for more than 10 hours and not beating them.

With ME, I was hooked into the main storyline within 2-3 hours and I felt really wanted to see how it ended.

I like the exploration of Fallout 3 though. ME doesn't have anything like that at all. I like the combat of ME more. Its more frantic plus you have super powers and abilities that are pretty cool. Getting a critical hit in VATS is way more satisfying than getting acritical in ME though. I love seeing my bullet fly through th eair in slow mo and hit a target. That never gets old, especially when it makes them do a back flip on impact.

I think both are AAA quality games though. As a traditional RPG, I think Mass Effect is a lot better. Fallout 3 almost isn't even a RPG to me. Its like an open world shooter that lets you level up and has dialog trees.
They are somewhat similar. I actually find myself comparing Fallout to Mass Effect a lot lately. The open ended choices, that really do impact the way you play. They are both shooting RPG's, Fallout has Vats which pauses the game, Mass Effect you have to pause to use your powers, so it's that same kind of take a breather and think out your strategy type. That's about where it ends though, 2 very similiar, yet very different games. If you enjoyed Mass Effect, I can't help but recommend Fallout.

I think that's the best summation. Both are different but similar, but if you like one you'll probably like the other. Maybe a little more or a little less, but I doubt you'like one and hate the other or feel like you wasted your money.

Sure they're similar. Kinda like how Tomb Raider: Underworld and Gears of War 2 are similar in that both are third person perspectives, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect are both RPGs.
The only thing similar in those games is that sometimes you can resolve certain situations with speech. It's really hard to explain all of differences in detail, so you gonna have to play it to see for yourself. If you liked Mass Effect, then I am %90 sure that you will like Fallout3.
