Hdmi or Components?

Hey!! well, thing is: i bought a 360, been playing on a 32 lcd 1080i tv, with the rgb cables that came with it.Now my question is, should i buy a hdmi? will it make that big of a difference? Hdmi or Components?
I would definitely go for the HDMI cables, but check that you are able to do so - mine is an early box and I can't use HDMI... :( Hdmi or Components?
lol, mine has a hdmi port :D
The difference in quality likely won't be apparent, but the fact that you can use only one cable on your 720p set is great.
If you choose to use a HDMI cable, do yourself a favor and don't buy the ''official'' M$ cable. It is significantly marked up. You can get one that will work just as well for around $5.
i would say stay with component cable. i have a 32'' 1080i tv i find it good. i hear that the HDMI cable is really only good for 1080p.
I have tried component and HDMI back to back. You will get a slightly sharper image with HDMI, and you will get better color. Get HDMI. Overall I think it's worth it. And you shouldn't need an expensive one. The cable I used was cheap.Oh, and that was on a Samsung 720p TV.
I bought an HDMI cable a week ago online (for 5$, dirt cheap), and got to hook it up over the weekend and let me tell you, it looks AMAZING. Do yourself a favor and get one, it's very cheap and the quality is significant. The component cables work but there's just something about the way it looks on HDMI that makes it look great. I love using it and the vibrant colors and sharpness that you get from it. Just try it out.
Well, you said your TV only goes up to 1080i so there'd be no point in getting HDMI cables. They only work with 1080p. Save yourself the money.
HDMI work great with 1080i not sure what the last poster is on about and I can tell a huge difference in quality. Only bummer is Audio and video go through the same cable which could be good or bad I guess depending on your setup.
HDMI does not ''only work with 1080p'' , where that misconception is comming from i dont knowThe difference between the two is quite simple, both transmit in HighDefinition but the component cables transmit its signal in analouge whilst HDMI transmits a purely digital signal. As for which one is better, assuming 720p or higher, HDMI is the better of the two simply because its signal is purely digital all the way rather than convertaing between analouge and digital like component therefore the result is better picture quality, if only slightly in some casesplus theres also the fact that hdmi is one cable rather than 3 for the same effect so go HDMI if you can
^^ Yes what he said lol.

Idk where Quintinius got his info from but penpusher explained it in terms I understand.

All I know (besides this wonderful explanation) is that once I switched from component to HDMI the difference was clearly noticable to me. I don't know how slight the change will be for other TVs but it was great in my case.
HDMI all the way!! I switched from component to Hdmi and hdmi was way better even in 1080i!!
Well, you said your TV only goes up to 1080i so there'd be no point in getting HDMI cables. They only work with 1080p. Save yourself the money.
That is absolutely not true. HDMI works for anything 720p and up. Actually, they work even for lower resolutions, but HD obviously only works for the device that can display it, i.e. 720p, 1080i, 1080p.
i say get the hdmi cables
etI use HDMI so i open up my component ports for a set of wii component cables i have, which surprising makes wii games much cleaner but it only operates at 480i

yes, he makes the most sense..
Here's all you need to know:

For your 32'' screen, component will do just fine. HDMI carries a better signal and can transmit more detail, but those finer details can only really be picked out when you start talking 46, 50 inches and bigger. On a 32'' screen, HDMI will NOT make any significant difference.
techincally 40 to 50 inch tvs actually make no difference you get the same level of detail as on a 32 inch, aye the bigger ones tend to be able to display 1080p but the problem is with that (and its something microsoft dont natter too much about) is that (at the moment most) 360 games are actually coded/developed at 720p, what your looking at when your set to 1080p the xbox scales upits supposed to be better but since your looking at an upscaled 720p transmission your not really looking at true 1080p
I use component on a 42'' 1080p LCD Television. Picture quality is basically perfect. The only reason I'm not using HDMI is because it doesn't carry audio, and I don't always want to use the theater system for sound.
