Your suggestions are probably the most valid and likely to be used, so there's no argument there. N.Y. and S.F. are pretty potential candidates. Though Bethesda may surprise us and go with a completely unexpected venue, maybe even somewhere out of the U.S. But right now I'm hardly thinking about it; I'm just glad that the next Fallout is confirmed. Besides, we'll be seeing a series of Fallout 3 DLC packs and possibly even a new Xbox before Fallout 4 comes out, so maybe after those are released, we'll have a better idea of what Fallout 4 holds - maybe even sooner.Fallout 4: So, Which City Should I Nuke ...
I think it would be really cool if the next Fallout was in China. Get a chance to see things from the other perspective of the 'war'.
Of course, since Fallout is firmly set in an American culture, it is very unlikely to happen.
Bethesda deliberately moved the game to the East coast so they could follow as little as possible of the original story. There were vaults built all across America, so in theory they could set a game almost anywhere in the US, but the West Coast has already been done twice, and if Beth went back and started changing things it would annoy fans of the original games - a main reason why F3 wasn't set there.
As for iconic structures, remember that the look of all the buildings is a 1950's retro style, but with all the technology of the future. Most iconic buildings we see today are built relatively recently and wouldn't really fit in.
If it was up to me, I would base it in Paris. There are a ton of well known landmarks that could be used for interesting game points like The Arc de Triomphe, The Louvre, The Pantheon, Stade de France and obviously the Eiffel Tower. It could open up the possibility for an expansion pack as well where you take the Chunnel over to London.
I think New York would be pretty awesome :D

I agree. It's not like America would be the only country to create fallout shelters.

Thinking the same thing myself
Hawaii you'll get that sense of isolation and cut off from the world..or maybe Alaska hahaha radioactive snowballs.
Paris, San Francisco or Chicago.
well maybe they should base it in central US, theres alot of interesting stuff here in kansas....like....um.....wait *SPOILERS* well if they base it on the west coast or east coast again there better be some actual greenary (sp) since some gecks have been used i believe and with project purity. well i guess even other places gecks would probably be used. the effects should be seen by now i would think. maybe the next one will have a humanity rebuilding the land and civilization theme to it. it won't be the wasteland forever.I think there'd be alot of good locations mid-USA that could be used. would be interesting to see all the farmland and crops that got turned into nothingness after the war.
moscow or tokoyo
i dont care, i just hope its as gd as 3
i think that tokyo would be awesome!
Why not explore an entire state? That state being Texas. It's the biggest state in the US and would make for the biggest gaming world we've ever seen.
Moscow and London would be a cool scenario. Please don't nuke them, though!

There was Hellgate London if you wanted a diablo style game running around a post apocalyptic demon infrested version of London - though no point buying it now if you haven't already got it as the creators went bust and the servers are due to shut down soon.
Although it would be cool to see some iconic cities outside of the U.S., a lot of Fallout's feel comes from the U.S. patriotic, 1940's style and to do it outside of the U.S. wouldn't be Fallout. Chicago has been done before (I think it was Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel), so I guess it only really leaves S.F. and N.Y. and I'd prefer to see N.Y. Maybe even Seattle?
I like the whole idea of a state being the game world. But a state like Texas just doesn't have to many familiar landmarks.
