Question about MS points

i was going to buy Indigo prophecy but there is option to get 1200 points why is there any way i dont want to pay $25.blada blad cents for a 14 dollar game i mean most there games are 1200 points any way it would only seem right to have this as a option i dont know i just want to know if theres a way?
